Today is her birthday.
If my mother were still alive, today would be her 45th birthday. We would hold a bonfire in the center of the village and people would dance and sing and celebrate.
But my mother isn't still alive.
And we don't live in the South Pole anymore, we are here in the Western Air Temple. And we won't hold a bonfire to celebrate the passing of another year for her.
